This round metal pan is in every home in Venezuela because it is used to make “arepas” which are one of traditional foods of my country. There is a dispute with Colombians about where arepas come from, but I can say long ago we were the same country.

Every morning when I was a child, I woke up to the smell of hot, freshly-made arepas that my grandmother had ready for us. That special aroma mixed with that of coffee brewing, brings to my mind all my childhood, the memory of my grandmother and our family being together.

This special piece of metal is part of Venezuelan culture and you can one find in every house of the entire country.
